Two close friends of Lionel Messi and Cesc Fabregas, Antonela Roccuzzo and Daniella Semaan, apparently wanted the two footballers to move to the MLS together. Despite their wishes, the plan fell through, as Fabregas retired shortly before Messi’s transfer to Inter Miami in the summer. The duo had hoped to play together in the USA, driven by the close friendship between their wives. However, Fabregas was still under contract with Monaco, preventing the move at the time of Messi’s departure from Barcelona. Messi eventually made the move to Inter Miami while Fabregas pursued a coaching role following his retirement from playing.
In response to rumors of Messi and Roccuzzo’s potential split, Semaan denied such claims, dismissing Brazilian media reports and affirming the strong bond between Messi and his wife. The couple, who have known each other since childhood, are now raising three children together. Their close friendship with Fabregas and Semaan continues, despite the failed plan to join forces in the MLS.
