Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano’s belief that Arsenal will pursue Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz has brought the Gunners’ move back into the spotlight. Luiz, who has long been sought after by Arsenal, was the subject of three unsuccessful bids from the club in the summer of 2022. Despite this setback, Mikel Arteta’s interest in the Brazilian has not waned, especially with Luiz’s impressive performances for Villa this season.
Romano predicts that Arsenal may face a tough challenge in securing Luiz’s signature, drawing parallels to the failed pursuit of Moises Caicedo in January. He remains optimistic, however, that Arteta will continue to push for the signing, even though Villa is reportedly demanding a hefty £60 million for the midfielder.
In a separate report, it is suggested that Aston Villa is eyeing a potential move for Kieran Tierney, who has found himself out of favor at Arsenal and spent time on loan at Real Sociedad. The 26-year-old left-back might be on the radar of Villa and Celtic, adding further intrigue to the transfer situation between the two clubs.
