Captain India in World Cup 2027: Retirement and International Play for USA, Netherlands, or Ireland

Team India selectors have once again ignored Sanju Samson, deciding not to select him for the five-match T20I series against Australia. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the home series on Monday, resting all senior players. Suryakumar Yadav, the No. 1 ranked T20I batter, will lead the Indian team, with Ruturaj Gaikwad as deputy.

The Indian T20I squad includes Suryakumar Yadav as captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad as vice-captain, Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Kumar.

Many Indian cricket fans expressed fury over Sanju Samson’s absence from the T20I squad. They criticized the selectors for what they deemed as a grave mistake in overlooking him, especially after his performance in the recently concluded 2023 World Cup.
