WWE is reportedly making many changes lately, but they are not due to the return of CM Punk. The wrestling veteran made his return to professional wrestling in 2021 after a prolonged absence and debuted in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). However, his time in AEW was riddled with injuries and backstage altercations, leading to his termination by Tony Khan. Punk also made a surprising return to WWE at Survivor Series, marking his first appearance in the promotion since 2014.
According to Ringside News, WWE is undergoing various changes as they prepare for WrestleMania 40, although it was not due to Punk’s return. The report did not confirm the specific plans being altered but stated that discussions about reshuffling certain plans were already underway before Punk’s return.
In response to Punk and Randy Orton’s return to WWE, former WWE writer Vince Russo expressed his views about their impact on the program. Russo suggested that their presence highlighted the disparity between veteran stars like themselves and younger talents like Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh.
Punk’s return has garnered significant attention and could draw more viewers to WWE. It will be intriguing to see how the promotion will utilize Punk during his upcoming appearance on SmackDown.
