Rory McIlroy had a lot of free time and decided to have a match against Shane Lowry, a friend of his. They agreed to pay $100 to the winner, with birdies worth $20 each. McIlroy took the lead early in the contest and ultimately won 3-2. Lowry tried to challenge with a double or quit, but they ended up tying. Rory McIlroy also made controversial comments about fellow PGA Tour star Patrick Cantlay, saying their relationship is “average at best” and criticizing Cantlay’s behavior during the Ryder Cup. The two are currently ranked second and fifth, respectively, and will continue to compete against each other.
