Jimmie Johnson shared his plans to race in select NASCAR Cup Series events in 2024. Although his complete schedule has yet to be announced, the 7-time NASCAR legend will be reunited with former Hendrick Motorsports legend Jason Burdett as his crew chief for the upcoming season.
Jason Burdett, who previously spent nine seasons in the Xfinity Series with Dale Earnhardt Jr’s JR Motorsports, will now be moving to Legacy Motor Club. He has worked with Xfinity legends Justin Allgaier, Brandon Jones, and Regan Smith during his time with the team.
Burdett played a crucial role in Jeff Gordon’s 2001 championship triumph and worked with Jimmie Johnson during his time at Hendrick Motorsports. Johnson expressed his excitement about adding Burdett to LMC full-time, stating that he has a long history of working with Jason and is genuinely excited to have him join the Club.
Additionally, Legacy Motor Club has also appointed Evan Bensch as the lead engineer, who previously worked in an engineering role for the number 43 car.
Furthermore, Jimmie Johnson has revealed three of the multiple races he intends to compete in next year. These races will be sponsored by AdventHealth, and Johnson will sport AdventHealth colors at Texas, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Kansas Speedway. Erik Jones will also wear these colors in the Daytona 500.
Terry Shaw, president and CEO of AdventHealth, expressed their excitement to partner with Legacy Motor Club, Erik Jones, and Jimmie Johnson for the upcoming race season.
AdventHealth has previously sponsored Ross Chastain for a total of 15 races and is looking forward to seeing Johnson return to racing with new sponsors and executives in the team.
