Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag Open to Selling Four Key Players in January Transfer Window

The report states that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is ready to sell Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, and Anthony Martial in the January transfer window. The Red Devils are said to be open to offers for the four players as Ten Hag aims to reconstruct the team due to the poor performance this season, including an early exit from the UEFA Champions League and a sixth position in the Premier League standings.

Casemiro, who transferred from Real Madrid to Manchester United in September 2022 for £70 million, is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and has not played since early November. While he impressed last season, this season has seen a questionable start for him, and the club, considering this, is open to selling him, with Al-Nassr reportedly showing interest in signing him.

Varane, 30, has recently been benched by Ten Hag and has been linked to a move to Bayern Munich. Sancho, 23, has not played for Manchester United since August after a training performance disagreement with the manager. Finally, Martial has only six months left on his contract and has not lived up to the club’s expectations in his eight years at Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag’s future at the club has come under scrutiny due to Manchester United’s struggles this season. The team’s elimination from the Champions League and a series of losses have put his future in question. A heavy defeat to league leaders Liverpool could intensify the pressure on the manager, but he is expected to remain in charge for the upcoming matches. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s potential control over the club’s sporting decisions could also add to the uncertainty around Ten Hag’s future.
