Manvir Singh’s Goal Secures India’s Historic Victory Against Kuwait in 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

The Indian men’s football team started their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 1-0 win over Kuwait in Kuwait City. Manvir Singh’s second-half goal sealed the victory for the Blue Tigers on Thursday, November 16.

Head coach Igor Stimac made some surprising lineup changes, dropping Lallianzuala Chhangte and Anirudh Thapa. And despite an aggressive start from Kuwait, India had the first clear chance, with Sunil Chhetri narrowly missing the target.

With the game tied at 0-0 in the first half, Kuwait made three changes at halftime to ramp up their intensity. Despite their efforts, India remained solid defensively and eventually took the lead through Manvir Singh’s goal.

After scoring, India defended strongly to secure the crucial away win. They will face Qatar next, while Kuwait takes on Afghanistan on the same day.
