Athlete Allyson Felix recently revealed her baby bump ahead of her appearance at the IHI Forum 2023. The retired sprinter made headlines the day before Thanksgiving by announcing her second pregnancy. Since then, the 38-year-old has been sharing glimpses of her pregnant self. Felix shared a photo of her husband Kenneth Ferguson and daughter Camryn, standing in front of a green backdrop. The board held by Camryn read, “Baby Brother Coming April 2024,” confirming the news. Felix captioned the picture, “Thanksgiving blessings! Adding a little more love to our family.”
Felix, a seven-time Olympic gold medalist, shared a mirror selfie showcasing her baby bump before speaking at the IHI Forum 2023. She wore a light blue bodycon dress and a blazer, delicately placing her hand on her growing bump. Felix captioned the picture as, “a whole working mama,” and also thanked @mmlafleur for dressing her for the event.
The former athlete’s first pregnancy in 2018 was complicated, as she faced preeclampsia, a condition that led her to deliver her baby via C-section at 32 weeks. She also confronted a 70% pay cut from Nike due to her pregnancy and was forced to return to training only six weeks after giving birth. In response, she ended her association with Nike and advocated for better maternity policies for athletes. She credited her daughter for motivating her to push back against the status quo.
Felix’s advocacy at Nike led to the release of a new policy guaranteeing pay and bonuses for athletes for 18 months during pregnancy. She continues to be a strong voice for pregnant athletes and mothers in sports.
