Standouts and letdowns: India’s top performers and disappointments in 1st T20I against Australia featuring Suryakumar Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi

Team India played an exciting match against Australia in the first T20I at Visakhapatnam on Thursday, November 23, which captured significant interest despite taking place just four days after the 2023 World Cup Final. Although Australia put up a formidable score of 208/3 in their batting, Team India clinched victory by two wickets in the very last ball. The match also saw some standout performances from key players.

Rinku Singh, who was brought to bat after Tilak Varma’s wicket, played a crucial role in securing the win for the team by striking four boundaries and smashing a six off the last ball. Although the win would have been secured regardless of the overstep by Sean Abbott, Rinku Singh’s composed performance at the closing stages of the match was commendable.

On the other hand, Ravi Bishnoi faced a challenging day with missed opportunities to dismiss Josh Inglis, who went on to score a century. Eventually, Bishnoi went for 54 runs in his four overs.

Mukesh Kumar emerged as the key bowler for Team India in the match, displaying an exceptional performance by controlling the Australian batters and maintaining an economy rate of 7.25. However, Prasidh Krishna struggled with his performance, ending the game with a high economy rate of 13.5 runs per over.

Suryakumar Yadav, who made his international captaincy debut, played a knock of supreme quality and played a significant role in guiding his team to victory. Yadav’s innings were characterized by his ability to maintain a controlled run rate and find boundaries when needed.

These standout performances reflect the intense competition and the skillful performances of the players in the first T20I between Team India and Australia.
