There are many tools that a sorcerer uses in their day-to-day life of curse hunting in Jujutsu Kaisen. One of these tools is the Shikigami, a unique kind of Curse technique that may be difficult for viewers to understand. Shikigami is a curse technique used to summon constructs to fight alongside sorcerers like Megumi and Junpei. These constructs can be monstrous or animal-like, but they serve the same purpose of fighting alongside the summoner until released or defeated. Shikigami materializes through summoning, often using an intermediary such as a talisman, and they remain until the summoner releases their technique or the Shikigami falls in battle.
Megumi Fushigoro, a sorcerer who summons Shikigami using his shadow as an intermediary, has access to various animal Shikigama, such as Divine Dogs, Max Elephant, Toad, Rabbit Escape, and the most powerful, Mahogara. The apex Shikigami, Mahogara, is part of Megumi’s Ten Shadows Technique and is the most powerful that can be called through this technique. Another character, Junpei, also utilizes a powerful Shikigami, Moon Dregs, which he uses to horrifying effect, manipulated into becoming a powerful curse user.
Shikigami can be scarily effective against unwitting civilians, and some, like Mahogara, are so powerful that even experienced sorcerers like Sukuna will struggle against them. Shikigami is a tool that both heroic and villainous sorcerers use to fight curses and empower themselves in Jujutsu Kaisen.
