Who will emerge as the ultimate superstar?

Patrick Mahomes and Shohei Ohtani are currently two of the biggest superstars in their respective sports. Mahomes, the quarterback, has had a successful career with the Kansas City Chiefs, winning two Super Bowls and transforming the franchise. Meanwhile, Ohtani, the two-way baseball star, has just confirmed his move to the Los Angeles Dodgers with an impressive 10-year $700 million deal, surpassing Mahomes’ $450 million deal.

Looking at their career earnings, Mahomes has earned a total of over $135 million since starting his NFL career in 2017. His earnings have steadily increased over the years, with his current contract set to earn him nearly $60 million this year.

On the other hand, Ohtani has earned significantly less, with a total career earnings of around $42 million. However, his recent $30 million one-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels and his rising star status in the MLB have significantly increased his earnings in recent years.

Comparing their contract values, Mahomes’ $450 million deal is overshadowed by Ohtani’s $700 million deal, and it is unlikely that he will ever reach such a high deal value. But Mahomes has prioritized winning championships over being the highest-paid player in the NFL, and his recent restructure indicates that he will remain one of the top earners in the league.

While Ohtani’s deal surpasses the likes of Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander, some argue that he should be worth even more considering his exceptional ability to both hit and pitch in the MLB. Overall, both Mahomes and Ohtani are among the highest-earning and most successful sports stars today.
