The Culprit Behind Fatigue

Daniel Cormier, who is a former two-division UFC champion and current UFC commentator, detailed the elements that make Jon Jones nearly impossible to defeat on Joe Rogan’s podcast, the JRE MMA Show. In their conversation, Cormier explained that Jones’ style of fighting, particularly in the clinch, could be fatiguing for the opponents as he understands how to maneuver his body effectively. Despite fighting twice, with Jones emerging victorious both times, Cormier only has one loss from the rivalry, as Jones failed a drug test following their rematch, leading to the result being overturned to a no-contest.

Cormier also emphasized Jones’ exceptional ability to control distance, making it difficult for opponents to get close to him. His southpaw stance and strategic use of kicks and knees pose significant challenges for his opponents. While Jones was scheduled to defend his UFC heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic, his plans were delayed due to a torn pectoral muscle, postponing the anticipated fight until mid-2024.
