Root was bowled for a 35-ball 28, and Kaif questioned his shot selection, emphasizing that players like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Sachin Tendulkar would never have played that stroke. He stated, “He was sitting on a sword’s edge. He played a similar shot and got a four, but this time, it was an embarrassing shot.” Kaif pointed out that great players like Dhoni, Kohli, and Tendulkar wouldn’t have played such a risky shot and criticized Root for attempting the reverse scoop on a batting-friendly surface, calling it a “disappointing shot.” Despite this, England secured a comprehensive 160-run win over the Netherlands, thanks to a stellar performance from Ben Stokes, who scored 108 runs off 84 balls.
